My New Laptop: Compaq Presario B1285TU

I finally bought myself a laptop last Sunday. I got a Compaq Presario B1285TU from SiliconValley/HP Davao. I was originally planning to get a B1256TU unit but I saw this upgraded version (HDD) so I got this instead and upgraded to 2gb ram. I know the specs aren't much... integrated video only and dual core processor (64bit) but it's ok. I can't afford the core2duo type/dedicated video. I got this at 0% 12mos. installment so I'm not complaining. hehe...

Will post my feedback on this laptop once I finish my setup. I've already finished installing Vista Ultimate - 32bit (my Gear Up! prize). As of now, I'm loving it: the size (12.1in wxga), looks, etc... There's a cheaper one with the same specs but has 15.4in. I'm glad I didn't buy it 'coz the screen looks dull and the trackpad isn't good.

Between the two, which is better to use in this laptop: Vista Ultimate 32-bit or 64bit?

Nodame Cantabile Updates

As I was searching about Nodame Cantabile Mangas last Saturday, I found out that there's going to be a Season 2 for the Anime version in October. I can't believe it at first... seems like that piece of news is really, really new. I was going to blog about it but I was running late so now I'm a couple of days late in posting it. NCISManga.net is still down for maintenance. I hope they'll be up soon so that I can catch up on more Nodame news. But OneManga has uploaded the scans for chapter 117 already and I can say i'm very happy with the development. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was a rumor I've read about last Saturday that the manga is going to end soon. I hope not...

Anyway, I was finally able to place my Nodame orders in YesAsia last week. I'm going to get my package next month... *sigh* Too long... it's because 2 items weren't on stock and will take 2 weeks. It's free shipping so I'm not complaining. I just hope it'll be delivered in my house and not the post office. If all goes well, I'll order the other volumes so that I can have a comp-lete collection. hehe... Downside is that the language is in Japanese so this'll be my motivation now to learn the language.

I finally found the HP Artist Edition laptop here

Finally saw this for real last Sunday at OCTAGON in LimKetKai. I was looking at laptops and then -- whoa! this design looks familiar. Where have I seen this?! And then it hit me. The HP Artist Edition laptop. I looked at the cover and it really was the Artist Edition design. *sigh* I looked at the posted specs and I only saw 1GB Ram and 160GB HDD. I thought, Bestbuy had 3GB ram and 250GB HDD for $999. The specs found here is so basic I didn't bother to ask for the price. Well, I texted Sana in case she has not seen this yet. Turned out she did already and she has asked for the price. 69K ($1618) according to her. Bleh! Not really worth it. I think it's so overpriced for the specs.

Myanmar Cyclone Reaction

I've heard about this in passing on television last night -- a cyclone or fierce storm hitting Burma/Myanmar. At first I thought this is quite typical in Asia. Fierce storms always hit the Philippines prompting the government to raise the calamity level of affected areas to a certain level. But when I read the news today, it seems like the worst. How, in a span of a couple of hours, thousands of people have died and many more are missing. Seeing pictures on the net and watching clips on tv again today shows the real damage of this calamity and it's really terrible. I just can't imagine myself being in that kind of situation. Getting aid is difficult. They don't even have clean water to drink. I didn't know also that Myanmar is under a military junta. It's good to know that many are willing to extend aid to their country and that the government of Myanmar have relaxed their laws to accept foreign aid which their people really need during these times.

With all the negative things happening around me now, I still feel blessed that I have never experienced this kind of calamity. I'm glad my place is not prone to typhoons and such. Heavy rains yes... but they don't leave that kind of damage. My prayers are with the people of Myanmar -- that they can soon rise from this tragedy and rebuild their lives.

Nodame Cantabile Chapter 116 Released!

OneManga has released the 116th chapter of the Nodame Cantabile series and I'm so happy. Well, at first I was thinking "Chiaki no baka!" for what happened in chapter 115 and for the first few pages of this chapter. Nodame is still hilarious esp. when she's down and Chiaki can't help worrying about her. But I love what happened after. Hehehe... What Chiaki wanted to analyze during the last pages of this chapter make me want to read the next chapter already. Arrrgggghhh!!! I still have to wait for the next chapter release.

I'm planning to buy the original manga in Japanese within this week even if I don't know how to read Japanese. I really want to collect all the volumes in this series but English copies are hard to find here. Even in Ebay here in my country I have trouble finding copies. Maybe if I'm in Manila I can find some in Manga stores. But since I can't wait already... I'll just buy those Japanese copies. Anyway, I have the English scans already. Who knows... this might be the reason I'll finally learn to read Japanese. Hehe...
